Al Bahr Towers


The twin 29-storey Al Bahr Towers in Abu Dhabi was named as 2nd World’s Best Tower

in Architecture Awards second to Canada’s Marilyn Monroe Building who throne the title.
The Abu Dhabi Investment Council headquarters received the highly regarded award for high-rise architecture because of its amazing design of exotic pineapple and honey combs.
It has been known for its unusual covering of 2,000 umbrella-like elements that can be opened and closed to keep the sun off the glass building as it moves across the sky but also let in daylight.
Emporis, a German-based skyscraper data company Emporis hail the Aedis-designed office towers for providing “a dynamic, translucent facade that runs off power generated by photovoltaic panels and which reacts to sunlight.”
Al Bahr Towers have been already featured on on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat’s “Innovative 20” list of buildings that “challenge the typology of tall buildings in the 21st century” of a Chicago-based Council.
The award title holder, the “Absolute World Towers” of Mississauga, Toronto Canada is locally known as the Marilyn Monroe building because of its curvaceous design.
Home to 20,000 Arabs, the towers were designed by the architectural practices MAD and Burka Architects.
The 3rd place goes to Burj Qatar in Doha, a 238-metre Ateliers Jean Nouvel-designed tower.
The Emporis Award is one of the world’s most prestigious award-giving bodies to high-rise architecture. Nominees were been assessed annually a panel of architects and other experts since 2000.
Ls tar, more than 300 towers measuring at least 100 metres tall and completed were eligible for the competition.
